Letters, 1887-1896.

Consists of letters and post cards from Paul Blouët, 1848-1903, author, to Andrew White Tuer, 1838-1900, publisher and author and to the firm of Field and Tuer, publishers. Two letters are written on leaflets advertising Blouet's lecture tour, and a clipping about his lecture tour of Australia and New Zealand is included. Several letters are signed with Blouët's pseudonym, Max O'Rell. The letters concern the publication of Blouët's stories.

Publisher. Tuer went to London in 1856 with the idea of becoming a doctor but was soon dissuaded of that profession and turned to a merchant's office. About 1862 he set up as a wholesale stationer and was joined the following year by Abraham Field, thus establishing the firm of Field and Tuer. They published their first book in the 1870s with Tuer as author as well as publisher. Max O'Rell was the pseudonym of English writer and lecturer Paul Blouët. He was notorious for his examination of English social mores in such works as John Bull and his island.
